Executive coaching cost: what does the fee include?

Published offers include $1,000 for four sessions in a 2023 rate sheet and $6,997 for six months in a 2025 sheet. Confirm current terms with each coach. GameTape is a separate $95/month Mac app for daily coaching debriefs from recorded meetings and observed work.

Sessions. Ask for the number, length and cadence. A monthly fee alone does not tell you how many hours you get.

Support. Some plans include messages between calls. Ask who responds and what response time the coach commits to.

Scope. Ask whether the fee includes assessments and stakeholder interviews. Ask about minimum terms and the cost of ending early.

Two ways to read a quote.

Jennifer Bellingrodt's published package lists four one-hour sessions for $1,000 paid in advance. That is four scheduled hours at $250 each. The rate sheet dates from 2023, so confirm that the offer still applies.

Kerri Burchill's 2025 rate sheet lists a six-month senior-executive package at $6,997. Dividing by six gives about $1,166 per month. The sheet gives no session count, so you cannot calculate an hourly rate.

Your comparison

Write down the total fee, scheduled hours and included support. Compare human session time and software observation as separate services.

Set a result you can check.

Pick a problem before you pick a package. You might need to delegate a decision, give overdue feedback or handle a board question with more clarity.

Agree on what progress would look like and when to review it. A later conversation, a colleague's feedback or a completed handoff gives you something concrete to discuss.

A change after coaching is not proof that coaching caused it. Your team and circumstances change too. Keep the evidence and the interpretation separate.

Make follow-up part of the work.

Marshall Goldsmith's stakeholder-centered model asks leaders to choose a behavior, involve colleagues and return for feedback. The follow-up checks how the change lands with other people.

That is a useful question for a coach: how will we review what happens between our sessions? Messages, observations and stakeholder feedback can each contribute.

GameTape adds a record of your observed work to that conversation. You can bring a specific moment instead of reconstructing the whole week.

Framework: Marshall Goldsmith, Stakeholder Centered Leadership Model. This is a coaching approach, not evidence of GameTape's effectiveness.

A promise with enough detail to review.

In the meeting: “I will send Acme the pricing doc by Thursday.” The useful details are the action, the recipient and the deadline.

At the next review: Check whether the recipient got the document. Opening or editing it only establishes work on the draft. If delivery is missing from the record, ask what happened.

Illustrative example using GameTape’s ledger format. It shows a selected meeting commitment, not a verified outcome. Check delivery before calling it complete.

Where a human coach still wins.

Choose a human coach for live feedback and rehearsal.

A human coach can challenge your interpretation and rehearse a hard conversation with you. Choose someone whose experience fits your situation. A recording alone cannot tell you how the other person felt.

Some coaches offer support between sessions and gather feedback from colleagues. Ask how they learn about your work.

GameTape turns supported work on your Mac into a daily debrief. Choose a moment to share at your next session.

Running both

Ask your coach what you could try in a similar situation next time.

Four questions that get you a number.

Use the published offer to prepare for the call.

How many sessions, across how many months? Get the count and the session length in writing.

What do you bill on top? Ask whether the fee includes assessments and stakeholder interviews.

What does the coach see of my work between sessions? Ask which evidence you can bring and how you will review progress.

What does ending early cost? Check the minimum term and the refund policy.

Straight answers.

Ask for the rate and the engagement terms together. Jennifer Bellingrodt's 2023 rate sheet starts at $300 per hour, or $1,000 prepaid for four one-hour sessions. That package works out to $250 per scheduled hour. It is one published example, not a market average; reconfirm the offer before booking.

It depends on the package. Four 60-minute sessions give you four scheduled hours. A six-month fee without a session count cannot establish monthly coaching hours. Ask about message support and preparation too.

Start with a problem you want to work on and agree on what progress would look like. Review specific conversations, decisions or feedback with your coach. Results depend on the engagement and your circumstances; a price or an ROI multiple cannot predict your outcome.

Business coaching often addresses the company's decisions and operations. Executive coaching focuses on how you lead. These labels overlap. Ask about the coach's experience and the work the engagement covers.

Software can supply observations and prompts for reflection. A human coach can discuss context, challenge your interpretation and rehearse a conversation with you. GameTape adds a daily debrief from observed work. You can choose which moments to bring to a coach.
